ON “STEWARDSHIP”

Stewardship includes the humble, regularly ignored work of figuring out what has been broken and disposed of, envisioning how their pieces may fit together, and afterwards fixing what we can. It is enticing to become fretful with the assignment of retouching and rather supplant what has been exhausted. Our mechanical culture urges us to see the new as an answer for our issues: discard which’s messed up and purchase new; destroy old structures for further development; move away from cracked family or kinships and make new connections.
