The linkage of the Cross to suffering ends with Christ working on the Cross. The Cross is a central link to the solution to the human problem of sin. Yes, for Jesus Christ on the Cross declared it “finished.” The Cross is where Jesus Christ defeated the power of Sin. Yes, Jesus gives us the ability to overcome Sin. One of the best short descriptions of what Jesus accomplished on the Cross is 2 Corinthians 5:21. Jesus took our sin and gave us His righteousness. The resurrection proves that Jesus achieved this by His power to save. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:17 that “if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile, and you are still in your sins.” The converse is that if Jesus has been raised, then we can be freed from our sin. Ultimately, sin will be overcome when Jesus returns, but until then, evil is being crushed in believers. God is still working, my friend. It would help you eternally if you never thought that there is any sin that the cross and resurrection cannot overcome. Jesus defeated Sin and its power on the Cross, and through His resurrection, we have God’s Righteousness. Hallelujah!!!
