ON “GREAT MEN AND WISDOM”

Have you not heard that great men are not always wise? Yes, power does not equal wisdom. The context for the usage of Elihu’s wisdom text speaks to the understanding that: “Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.” (Job 32:9, KJV). The wisdom literature of the Old Testament explores the connections between prosperity and suffering, success and justice, among others. The contention could extend to understand that age, success, and the large number of people who might agree with you does not certainly mean you are right! One thing remains, in the Gospel, you can both be great and wise! That’s it!!!
