ON “JESUS ANGER”

ON “JESUS ANGER”

John 2:13–23 describes Jesus driving corrupt businessmen from the temple. Selling sacrifices to travellers was not a problem. The sin was in gouging the people, focusing on money rather than serving God. Jesus is never depicted as out of control, but His anger is apparent. Oh yes, this is likely an early temple cleansing, and the other gospels record a second, separate cleansing. The Jewish authorities challenge Jesus’ authority. In typical Hebrew style, they demand a miraculous sign. Jesus instead predicts His own death and resurrection. The real solution to all humanness – Jesus, the resurrection and life. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26). That’s it!!!
