ON “POOR WHAT?”

ON “POOR WHAT?”

Someone once said about Christianity, and I quote: “To live with Jesus is to live with the poor.” Have you not heard that there are differences between being poor in spirit and living in poverty? A Scottish proverb says: “Do not judge by appearances; a rich heart may be under a poor coat.” Anne Frank said: “No one has ever become poor by giving.” I like it when I hear that we are here on earth to do good, but what others are doing, I don’t know! The achievement of poverty doesn’t need an explanation for the need for deliverance! Mary Ferrier once said: “No two things differ more than abstract and actual poverty.” What makes a man poor lies within him! Nonetheless, one thing is surer in it all: “Kindness to the poor is a loan to the LORD, and He will repay the lender.” (Proverbs 19:17, BSB). That’s it!!!
