ON “BALANCE IN LIFE”

Have you not heard it repeatedly that life is a balanced system of learning and development? The balance that centres on the socially coopted view of pleasure or pain that every circumstance in your life serves a purpose? Is it not up to individuals to recognise what that purpose could be? According to the Preacher in Ecclesiastes 1:2-11, this life under the sun is grossly unbalanced! However, the addendum to have other life if you like provides a pastoral view: “He has also set eternity in the human heart” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Meaning, eternity with God makes the notion of eternal life with God the real balance in life. Acquisition of such life centres on seeking the true meaning of life to discover eternal life and live in it: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matthew 6:33-34 ESV).
