ON “ATTRACTION”

Diverse reasons for various type of attraction. Nonetheless, we can be skillfully enticed by our interests down the wrong paths. In Matthew 23:27–28, Jesus chastised the Pharisees for their superficially ecclesiastical behaviour: “How terrible for you, teachers of the Law and Pharisees! You hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look fine on the outside but are full of bones and decaying corpses on the inside. In the same way, on the outside, you appear good to everybody, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and sins.” The well-known axiom that “beauty is only skin-deep” is rich with scriptural truth. It is valid for the alluring whore in Proverbs. It is useful for David’s wicked quest for Bathsheba. It is valid for Samson’s startling relationship with Delilah. What’s more, it is undoubtedly valid for the misleading plans of the underhanded one himself, whom we are told frequently takes on the appearance of “a blessed messenger of light” (2 Cor. 11:14). Be careful of the evil attraction!!!
