ON “HUMAN IS FOR TURNING”

Yes if a human is for turning, no one is sovereign. Yes if the heart of a king is for turning, no king or queen is ultimate. In Proverbs 21:1b, “Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes:” – Indeed, it’s a picture that shows how God may manage the heart of the human. In moving a stream, one doesn’t have to convey each drop of water to a spot it where it is wanted; if one can shape the banks and guide the course of the waterway, the water will go where wanted. In this way, God doesn’t have to do brutality to the human heart to control it; He may do it basically through orchestrating different conditions like banks of a stream to direct the stream where He needs it. For models, Tiglath-pileser (Isaiah 10:6, 7), Cyrus (Isaiah 41:2-4) and Artaxerxes (Ezra 7:21). These were despots who, in seeking after their picked courses, overwhelmed or prepared God’s field as He decided. The rule is still in power. As rancher channels, the water where he needs and manages its stream so does the Lord with the ruler. No human ruler, at that point, is preeminent; or, to put it another way, the Lord is genuinely the King of all rulers. That’s it!!!
