God is against the proud (James 4:6 and 1 Peter 5:5), and the proud individual is a plague to God (Proverbs 16:5). With God so set against the proud, no big surprise that pride goes before destruction. The specific evil of pride is that it restricts the primary guideline of insight (the fear of the Lord) and the two great precepts. A protruding divider is close to ruin. Expanding is a hazardous manifestation in the body; so is pride in the spirit. So far as anyone is proud, he or she is family to the fiend and an alien to God and he/herself. That’s it!!!
