ON “NOT THE LOT THIS TIME”

ON “NOT THE LOT THIS TIME”

You heard that; “The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision is from the Lord.” (Proverbs 16:33).
Relatively, the lot is something like the moving of dice. To project the parcel was to utilise some device of opportunity to settle on a decision. The lot was used to divide the land of Israel among the tribes (Numbers 26:55, Joshua 14:2) and to arrange the workers for the temple (1 Chronicles 24:5). The disciples used lots to fill the vacancy left by Judas (Acts 1:26). The thought isn’t that every function in life is a message from God, nor is it that we should utilise the lot  to decide God’s will. It means to submit the choice to God absolutely, and when we present our options to Him, God guides us (Proverbs 3:5-6). The Old Testament used the word lot to show that this maxim (and Proverbs 18:18) isn’t about God’s control of all random occurrences, but about His settling of matters adequately referred to Him. That’s it!!!
