Have you not heard that the soul of the diligent is richly supplied? Yes, diligence swiftly brings to you the due season for outstanding achievements! Soul, that is, in the sense of “life,” depicts life without so much connection to the non-material aspect of one’s being. However, diligence in spiritual things leads to spiritual prosperity and windfall of accomplishments. Do you remember the often saying that numerous religious people conveying a desire to have more of the Divine life, and yet never get forward in it; how is this? The explanation is explicit, they have passion for an improvement divinely, but they lack the diligence to carry it through. Simply, they desire but do not stir themselves up to lay hold upon the Lord Jesus to the end; “…receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” (1 Peter 1:9 NHEB)
