ON “LIKE A THIEF IN THE NIGHT

An occasion that happens out of the blue and erratically, for example, unexpected passing. Jesus clarifies that a guardian does not know at what time of night a hoodlum could possibly come. In the New Testament, this metaphor is used to illustrate Christ’s second coming. “If the owner of a house knew the time when the thief would come, you can be sure that he would stay awake and not let the thief break into his house. So then, you also must always be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him.” Matthew 24:43-44 GNT
