ON “STRAIGHT AND NARROW”

ON “STRAIGHT AND NARROW”

The usage of ‘straight and narrow’ in the Bible refers essentially to avoidance of crime and or misbehavior for one who has hitherto been vile. Jesus teaches that following Him is challenging and often means going against one’s propensities. Remember always: “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:14, KJV).

ON “INNER PEACE

ON “INNER PEACE

When you need inner peace or are in search of true peace, you should remember you have to take personal responsibility for what you search for. The life of inner peace, pleasant and without anxiety, is the most accessible type of existence. It would be best if you positioned yourself not to let the behaviour of others obliterate your inner peace. Do let this understanding help you that nobody can bring you peace but yourself. Always remember the words of…

1. “Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.” 2 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on…

ON “STRATEGIC GROUND”

ON “BREAKTHROUGHS IN DIFFICULT TIME”

Yes, what makes breakthroughs though or difficult to achieve is opposition! I say to you, if you’re praying for a breakthrough and not seeing it, do not give up. Opposition precedes breakthroughs! Daniel’s Example could help here. Daniel 10:12–14 gives us a straightforward look at what’s happening. Daniel had been praying and partially fasting for 21 days to gain greater insight into the revelations he had received (Daniel 10:3) when an angelic being finally showed up with an answer to his…

1. “Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own.” 2 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. For God so loved…

ON “DON’T BE CONTAMINATED”

Don’t be unequally yoked; could take on the understanding of not being corrupted both physically and spiritually. By definition, contamination is to infect, corrupt or make impure. Why do we allude to an example of contamination that could underscore an accidentally place raw chicken on the counter and not clean it up? Yes, this is indeed to make impure, infected, corrupt, radioactive, etc., by contact with something or adding something; pollute; defile; sully; taint. As Christians, our calling becomes a well…

ON “TASTING THE SOIL”

ON “TASTING THE SOIL”

Rebecca Bratten Weiss said: “Old farmers sometimes taste a little soil to ascertain the pH level, and I’m aspiring to be an old farmer someday, so I touch my tongue to the soil in my hand. Is it sweet or sour? Hard to tell: I’m too wary to go beyond a tentative lick. Eating dirt is not considered civilised behaviour, and we are trained from an early age to shun the dirt, to set up sharp dividing lines between ourselves…

1. “For each will have to bear his own load. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” 2 “Let your foot be seldom in your neighbor’s house, lest he have his fill of you and hate you. And he made from one man every nation…

ON “KNOWING LOVE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES”

ON “KNOWING LOVE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES”

Yes, the love without boundaries is to love both your friends and enemies! The Jews of the Old were specialists in loving their neighbour, but they hated their enemies. Jesus picks up Leviticus 19 to explain God’s concept of love without boundaries. Our Lord Jesus expands it beyond what any rabbi did in His day. It is not just patriotism to the people of Israel; it is not just care and loyalty to the people outside of Israel who comes…
