Press Release / Rejoinder By Professor Ojo Emmanuel Ademola, General Evangelist, CAC Nigeria and Overseas
Refuting the Misplaced Axiom: WOSEM Was Never the Cause of CAC’s Crisis
In recent discourse, some have attempted to frame the World Soul Winning Evangelistic Ministry (WOSEM) as the root of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) crisis. This narrative is not only historically inaccurate but also theologically misleading. It is essential to set the record straight, for truth is the foundation upon which renewal must be built.
WOSEM’s True Identity
WOSEM was never registered as an independent ministry. It operated faithfully as an evangelical arm of CAC Nigeria and Overseas. Prophet Timothy Oluwole Obadare consistently affirmed that WOSEM was not a parallel denomination. When non‑CAC elements approached him to register WOSEM independently and pull it out of CAC, he rejected their request and declared unequivocally that WOSEM was an evangelical arm of CAC.
Furthermore, most of the CAC congregations pioneered by Prophet Obadare in the United Kingdom and the United States were formally handed over to CAC long before the illegitimate General Executive Council (GEC) faction began weaponising the “church within church” concept for self‑centred purposes. WOSEM’s loyalty to CAC is a matter of record.
The Real Root of the Crisis
The crisis of CAC did not originate from WOSEM. It originated from the master‑grand rebellion of 1990, when the Christ Initiative Forum metamorphosed into the GEC faction. This rebellion created parallel structures, institutional confusion, and fragmentation. To blame WOSEM is to misplace priority and perpetuate bias.
Pastor E. H. L. Olusheye’s 2015 Confession: The Truth They Could Not Bury
It is vital to recall that Pastor E. H. L. Olusheye, a core pioneer of the GEC, issued a Press Release and swore an Affidavit in 2015 that exposed the illegitimacy of the GEC’s foundation. In sworn testimony before the Federal High Court, he admitted that the authentic Certificate of Incorporation of CAC is the one issued on 16 December 1985, held by the Supreme Council. He confessed that the certificates obtained in 1991 and 1995 were improperly secured, based on a false affidavit claiming the 1985 certificate was missing when it was not. He acknowledged that the process was irregular, unlawful, and spiritually indefensible.
This is not hearsay. It is sworn fact. It is the truth they could not bury. When a GEC pioneer himself admits to the illegitimacy of the structure he helped birth, the matter is settled. The crisis cannot be blamed on WOSEM, nor on Prophet Obadare, but on the rebellion that Olusheye himself confessed to.
Prophet Obadare’s Integrity
Prophet Obadare’s integrity in this matter is beyond dispute. When Afe Babalola Chambers represented him, Obadare refused to allow criminal cases or defamation suits to be filed against CAC leaders who insulted him. He chose restraint, humility, and fidelity to the Church, even when personally attacked. This is not the behaviour of a “landlord” clinging to ownership, but of a servant of Christ committed to unity and revival.
Conclusion: Truth Must Be Told
The axiom that WOSEM was the cause of CAC’s crisis is non‑factual and misleading. WOSEM was never registered as an independent ministry, never operated as a parallel denomination, and never claimed ownership of CAC congregations. The true cause of the crisis was the rebellion of 1990, when the Forum became the GEC and introduced illegitimate structures. Pastor E. H. L. Olusheye’s 2015 Press Release and Affidavit confirm this truth from within the GEC itself.
Therefore, using WOSEM as the cautionary tale for Baptist church planters is a misplaced priority and reflects both conscious and unconscious bias. The real lesson is this: rebellion, not evangelism, fractures the Church.
CAC Nigeria and Overseas must return to truth, confront illegitimate structures, and embrace repentance. Only then can the covenant of Latter Rain Revival speak again with power.
