THE DIVINE CALL TO INTERCEDE FOR JERUSALEM
Beloved in Christ, today we stand on a divine command—a mandate not rooted in human tradition but in God’s eternal decree. The Lord issues a call to His people to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. This is not merely an instruction for Israel’s welfare but a spiritual principle tied to prosperity and divine alignment.
Why does God call us to pray for Jerusalem? The answer lies in the heart of His covenant. Jerusalem is not just a city; it is the epicentre of His promises, the land upon which His Name dwells. It is the place from which salvation history unfolded, from the sacrifices on the holy mountain to the redeeming work of Jesus Christ. To pray for Jerusalem is to align ourselves with God’s unfolding plan of redemption.
The Pentecostal renewal movement teaches us the power of persistent intercession. Just as believers contend for personal breakthroughs, we must intercede for the peace of Jerusalem, knowing that this prayer unlocks blessings upon those who love her. God has stationed watchmen upon Jerusalem’s walls—intercessors who will not keep silent until the city is established as a praise in the earth.
Let us rise as intercessors, understanding that praying for Jerusalem is not optional—it is a divine act of obedience that positions us for supernatural favour. The Holy Spirit, the great Advocate, stirs us to stand in the gap for the land that carries God’s covenant. As we lift our voices, let us remember that to touch Jerusalem in prayer is to touch the heart of God.
May this call ignite a fresh fire in our spirits today, awakening a generation that will pray without ceasing until Jerusalem is established in peace and the glory of the Lord fills the earth.
