Isaiah 29:17–24 – The Glory of Transformation and Understanding

The prophet declares that Lebanon will become a fertile field, the deaf will hear the words of the scroll, and the blind will see out of gloom and darkness. The humble will rejoice in Yahweh, and the ruthless will vanish. Those who are confused will gain understanding, and those who complain will accept instruction.

 “The humble will rejoice in Yahweh, and the needy will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.” (Isaiah 29:19)

The Psalmist proclaims that Yahweh is his Light and Salvation, his stronghold against fear. He longs to dwell in the house of Yahweh, to gaze upon His Beauty and seek Him in His Temple. He declares confidence that he will see the Goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living, urging patience and courage.

 “Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom should I fear?” (Psalm 27:1)

Matthew 9:27–31 – The Glory of Faith and Healing in Christ

Two blind men follow Jesus Christ, crying out for mercy. Christ asks if they believe He can heal them, and they affirm their faith. He touches their eyes, declaring that it will be done according to their faith, and their sight is restored. Though He instructs them not to spread the news, they proclaim it widely.

 “It will be done for you because of your faith.” (Matthew 9:29)

Isaiah 30:19–26 – The Glory of Comfort, Guidance, and Restoration

Yahweh promises compassion to His people, answering their cries. Though they experience adversity, He will give them teachers, and they will hear His voice saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” The light of the moon will be like the sun, and the sun’s light will be sevenfold, as Yahweh heals the wounds of His people.

 “On the day when Yahweh binds up the brokenness of His people, He will heal the wounds He inflicted.” (Isaiah 30:26)

The Psalmist exhorts praise to Yahweh, who heals the broken-hearted and binds their wounds. He determines the number of stars and calls them by name. God lifts up the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.

Jesus Christ went through towns and villages, teaching, proclaiming the Good News, and healing every disease. He had compassion on the crowds, for they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He told His disciples that the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few, and He gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and heal every sickness.

 “He felt compassion for them because they were troubled and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” (Matthew 9:36)

Jesus Christ instructs His disciples to go to the lost sheep of Israel, proclaiming that the Kingdom of Heaven is near. He commands them to heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, and drive out demons, freely giving as they have freely received.
