PN 5). God’s Promises of Exceptional Glory

(Genesis 14:18–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26)

In Genesis 14, Melchizedek, King of Salem and Priest of God Most High, blesses Abram and brings out bread and wine. This moment is rich with prophetic significance, foreshadowing the Redemptive work of Jesus Christ. Melchizedek’s dual role as king and priest prefigures the Eternal Priesthood of Christ, who also offers bread and wine—His Body and Blood—as a Covenant of Salvation.

In 1 Corinthians 11, the Apostle Paul recounts the institution of the Lord’s Supper. Jesus Christ, on the night He was betrayed, took bread and wine and declared them symbols of His Body and Blood, given for the Redemption of humanity. This act is not only a remembrance but a proclamation of His Death until He returns.

Interpretation

o God’s Exceptional Glory is revealed in the mystery of divine provision and covenant.

Verse 4 declares Him a priest forever in the Order of Melchizedek, establishing His Eternal Priesthood.

Interpretation

PN 6). God’s Promises of Exceptional Glory

(2 Corinthians 11:18, 21–30)

In this passage, the Apostle Paul contrasts worldly boasting with the spiritual reality of suffering for the sake of Jesus Christ. While others boast in their credentials, Paul chooses to boast in his weaknesses—his imprisonments, beatings, shipwrecks, hunger, and constant concern for the churches. His trials are not signs of failure but of deep commitment to the Gospel and the power of God working through human frailty.

Interpretation

• God’s Exceptional Glory is revealed not in outward success but in faithful endurance through hardship.

• Paul’s boasting in weakness highlights the paradox of divine strength being perfected in human limitation.

• The Glory of God is made manifest when believers remain steadfast under pressure, trusting in His Sustaining Grace.

Practical Application

• Pentecostal believers are encouraged to embrace trials as opportunities for God’s Glory to be revealed.

• Rather than seeking validation through worldly achievements, they should find joy in serving Jesus Christ faithfully, even in adversity.

• The Holy Spirit empowers believers to endure, and their testimony becomes a beacon of God’s Exceptional Glory.

Shining Glory

(Matthew 6:19–23)

Jesus Christ teaches about the true nature of treasure. He warns against storing up earthly riches that decay and encourages storing treasures in Heaven. He explains that where one’s treasure is, there the heart will be also. He then speaks of the eye as the lamp of the body—if the eye is healthy, the whole body is full of light; if not, the body is full of darkness.

Interpretation

• God’s Shining Glory is reflected in the purity of heart and clarity of spiritual vision.

• Treasures in Heaven represent Eternal values—righteousness, mercy, and obedience to God.

• The condition of the heart determines whether one walks in light or darkness.

Practical Application

• Pentecostal believers must prioritise eternal values over material gain, investing in what glorifies God.

• They are to examine their spiritual vision—what they focus on—and ensure it aligns with the light of Jesus Christ.

• The Holy Spirit helps believers walk in the light, guarding their hearts from the darkness of greed and distraction.

Conclusion

These Scriptures together reveal a powerful portrait of God’s Glory—exceptional in suffering, exceeding in deliverance, and shining in purity.
