UNDERSTANDING YOUR STRENGTH IN SERVICE
Dear brothers and sisters, today’s homily centres around the essential virtue of knowing our limits before extending a helping hand to others. It is a noble inclination to offer assistance and support to those in need, but it is equally crucial to recognise our own capacities and boundaries. As the Scripture tells us in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This verse reminds us that our strength ultimately comes from God, and there are certain limitations we must acknowledge.
Let us reflect on the parable of the Good Samaritan. The Samaritan recognised his ability to help the wounded man and did so diligently and generously. He didn’t overextend himself beyond his means but offered the assistance he could afford. Similarly, we are called to be mindful of our limitations and capabilities when reaching out to others in need.
Remember, my dear friends, that knowing our limits doesn’t diminish our compassion or willingness to help. Instead, it allows us to serve more effectively and sustainably. By seeking wisdom from God and understanding our boundaries, we can better support those around us without sacrificing our own well-being or spiritual strength.
Let us pray for discernment and guidance as we strive to serve God and fellow beings with humility and wisdom.
JESUS IS LORD
