BALANCING COMPASSION AND SELF-CARE

BALANCING COMPASSION AND SELF-CARE

Beloved congregation, today we gather to reflect on the delicate balance between showing compassion towards others and practising self-care. As we walk the path of faith, we are called to extend love and kindness to those in need, following the Guidance of Christ who taught us to love our neighbours as ourselves.

In Mark 12:31, we are reminded of the importance of loving our neighbours as ourselves. This commandment encompasses not only caring for others but also nurturing our own well-being. It is crucial to recognise our limits and needs before we can effectively support others.

Imagine a cup overflowing with water – it can only offer refreshment to others if it remains full itself. Similarly, we must fill our hearts and spirits with God’s love and strength before we can pour out compassion to those around us. When we honour our own limits and take care of ourselves, we become vessels of God’s grace, radiating love and support to others.

Let us embrace the balance between compassion and self-care, knowing that through nurturing ourselves, we can better serve our community and fulfil God’s will for our lives. May we find peace and strength in this harmony and continue to spread the light of Christ’s Love in the world.

May God bless us all as we navigate the Journey of service and self-care with Wisdom and Grace.

JESUS IS LORD
